DTLA – Yet more work is underway in the Arts District, though this time it is on the smaller end of the spectrum.
The development firm RYDA has begun renovating a pair of buildings at 806-820 E. Third St., near the intersection with Traction Avenue. Originally constructed in 1910, the buildings — one four floors and made of concrete, the other a single-story brick structure — are getting new wiring, air conditioning and other infrastructure upgrades, according to Ryan Neman, a principal at RYDA. When completed in late 2018, the project known as Third & Traction will have four live/work lofts, as well as retail and restaurant space. The previous tenants have left the building, although Neman said that the menswear store and gallery Apolis will return when the project opens (Apolis currently has a pop-up shop at 826 E. Third St.). No budget has been revealed. More information is at 3tla.com
