Loz Feliz, Los Angeles
1824 Hillhurst / The Craftsman
There’s no playbook for a site like 1824 Hillhurst—a 1915 Craftsman-style bungalow in tight-knit Los Feliz, with an ordinance-protected, old-growth Deodor Cedar tree on the front lawn. RYDA embraced the challenge, preserving the unique character and welcoming personality of the house, and updating it to accommodate a thriving restaurant for the community to enjoy.
2017 Renovation
1915 Original Build
4,032 SF
Carefully restoring the original character of the house’s façade, RYDA fully updated the interior for use by a restaurant tenant, while amplifying the property’s approachable charm and colorful environs. The addition of a street-facing patio and subtle landscaping invites diners to gather outdoors and enjoy the fresh air in this intimate, leafy neighborhood.
The Neighborhood

The area abuts Griffith Park, L.A.’s sprawling, rugged destination for hiking and city-wide views.
